Familiar lyrics tell of having “a companion on the journey.”
It aptly describes Kim’s role as Community Liaison. She’s a companion whose well- timed questions, patiently listening and capacity to draw together other professionals to help discern if you and Stillwater are a good fit.
Daily she interacts with adult children who are concerned for a parent’s welfare or an out-of-town relative who has discovered a troubling reality. Calmly, she leads a group of siblings on a tour and addresses their questions about caring for their newly widowed parent. Sometimes she welcomes a couple whose curiosity prompted them to stop and learn about our new community.
Rounding out her day might be a call from a rehab nurse or physican’s office worker voicing concern about a patient who may be discharged from a skilled care site. Then too, she often hears from caregivers who feel overwhelmed, need a break, or wish they could attend an out-of-town event. Her day is rarely routine but she does what she loves!
Her prior positions included stints with a regional hospital, a skilled care site and a chain-owned assisted living community. They primed her for understanding the office ebb and flow of healthcare professionals and make her respectful of their time and referrals. Additionally, the experiences provided the view of families struggling to make the right decision for their loved ones.
