Hello Everyone!

This past week we had the pleasure of hosting Senior Olympic Athlete, Mike Young who has been an athlete for his entire life and has spent the last 5 years competing in the Senior Olympics and in USA Track & Field competitions throughout the United States and Canada.   Mike talked with us about his career as a professional athlete and showed us his uniforms, shoes and most impressive were his huge collection of gold, silver and bronze medals.  Mike allowed our Residents to wear some of his medals and get their pictures taken with him.

Apples Anyone?   We are heading up the River Road on September 16th to pick apples and upon return back home to Stillwater, we will be making our own Apple Dumplings together!  We then plan to watch the movie, “The Apple Dumplin’ Gang” while we eat our delightful dessert.   Don’t you wish you were here for all this fun?

We are looking forward to hosting our “Guys night Out” on September 14th. It will be an evening of MEN ONLY and we will be going to sample beer at Recess Brewery here on Main St. In Edwardsville.   During this same time, we will be having a craft time for the Ladies in our Activity Room.  Of course, snacks will be available for all to enjoy there as well.

Employee in the Spotlight . . . .I am sure all of you have met our beloved Gay Lynn, or at least have heard us say… ”Well, let’s get Gay Lynn, she will know what to do!”  Gay Lynn supervises daily housekeeping department responsibilities, part time driver for our Outings, helps coordinating our Fire drills and building inspections, helps serve in the Dining room and fixes small maintenance items such as lights and even broken toilets!  I am sure there are many other things she does behind the scenes that may not be evident to our Residents, but one thing for sure when something needs attention, she is the one who usually knows what to do! Before joining Stillwater,Gay Lynn served as a service advisor for 15 years at Erb Equipment, a John Deere Dealership in Belleville, IL. She worked full time and also taught fitness classes at Belleville Health & Sports Center. Gay Lynn enjoys being outdoors and helping people. She has been with our Stillwater Family for over a year now and we continue to appreciate her for who she is and all that does to keep us operating in a smooth manner.  Fun Fact: Gay Lynn vacations once a year to Sturgis, South Dakota with her siblings to ride motorcycles across 4 states!   Stop and say Hi to Gay Lynn the next time you are here for a visit at Stillwater.  Wishing all of you a great month ahead!
